At least the Lower Moselle is certified in the "Johnson" from 1982 that quite passable wines mature here. But that's about it. Quality? They were the others. With wine as with tourism. Sad - but unfortunately not all that wrong. And therefore a good reason to change it! At a meeting of winemakers and restaurateurs in 1991, at the suggestion of Reinhard Löwenstein, the "Terrassenmosel" was born.
A name that expresses the identity of the region: A landscape that is characterized by ancient, terraced vineyards. And a name that stands for a political program: Away from deep fryer schnitzel and lovely Möselchen. Towards culture. Not an easy path ... but it's slowly going uphill. With better wines, ambitious gastronomy, cozy hotels and interesting tourism offers. Even on the motorway, large signs point out the Terrassenmosel cultural monument.
A region on the way to emancipation!
